Just did my second BIAB. I did NB ak47 pale mild kit. The grain bill was 5lb marries otter, 0.5lb Simpson caramalt, 1oz fawcett pale chocolate. I had a prevail volume of 6.5 gallons and measured a chilled to 60f sample of 1.032. My OG ended up at 1.042 and the target on the kit is 1.036. Can anyone tell me what my efficiency was. The online stuff said a little over 100%, but I really don't believe that, and honestly don't want to. I must have done something wrong along the way. Thanks for the help.

5 lbs marris otter at 38ppg 5x38=190 points
0.5 lbs caramalt at 34ppg 0.5x34=17 points
0.06 lbs choc malt ast 34ppg 0.06x34=2 points

190+17+2=209

209 points total potential extract

6.5 gallons measured preboil volume x 32 measured preboil gravity = 208 points extracted

208/209= 99.5% preboil efficiency(efficiency into the boiler)

I would guess the measured preboil volume was off, or the weight of the grains was off, or the preboil gravity reading was off.

I think I def measured some stuff wrong. Plugged some of my numbers into a brewing app on my phone and it seems to say I should have been around 77% efficiency based on my recipe, size of batch and OG. I think that's probably more accurate. I got around the same on my first BIAB as well.
