Peanut Butter Wine?!

While I was sitting here waiting for the time to do the pectic enzyme on my first ever batch of country wine (Raspberry, from berries hand picked today, following the recipe from Terry Garey's book), I decided to have a look at the wikipedia article on country wine.

It mentions all of the usual suspects, plus one more: peanut butter wine. The only explanation is that it is "rare as it has never been commercialised, although it was a commonly home-made wine in the early 20th century."

Have any of you tried, or even heard of such a thing?
 
Nope, and probably for a good reason too.

I wouldn't even know where to start!

I'd probably be nutty enough to try it once if I ever did find a recipe, though. :D
 
There have been several discussions of peanut butter beers. You might try a search.
 
I made a peanut butter and banana mead once. smelt GREAT as a must and took over a year to clear tasted faintly of banana and more of peanuts.
I botched up though on my first batch and had a peanut gyser in the basement!

Hmm, sounds familiar. You hang out over on GotMead?
 
Not sure about Peanut Butter wine but on a recent episode of "Three Sheets" on MOJO they were drinking a Cashew Wine. It sounded like the taste was much like your standard sweet, cheap wine.
The episode was on Belize.

Never peanut butter but lots of almond wine. I try to get a few bottles when I am in Chicago. It doesn't last long though!
