NB Tallgrass Halcyon Wheat came out dark?

I did the NB pro series kit today and the wort was the right color (golden) after mashing and then adding the one lb of gold DME, however after I added the gold LME at 15min the wort is dark (think brown ale). Why would they put the syrup in the kit if it comes off that dark? I did as close to a full volume boil as i could (5 gallon pot).
 
Gold dme shouldn't come out dark, my guess is that you accidentally scorched the dme
 
The gold LME was dark not the dme. The dme was added and there was no color change. It was the LME that made it dark

It wasnt the dme that did it. It was the LME that was NB gold LME and it was dark in the bottle
