Hello- I'm a new home brewer, looking for some ideas and guidance on working with Maple syrup with porters/stouts. Is it as simple as buying some maple syrup from a grocery store? Or, is there a certain type of Maple syrup I need to seek out? Also, some ideas on when to introduce it to the brewing process would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've never used maple syrup but it will most likely ferment out completely. It will boost your ABV, but you will probably not end up tasting it, especially in something like a porter. To get the max flavor out of it you will want to add it at flameout, or add it after high krausen.
