Grains of paradise substitution

Does anybody have any suggestion for a substitution for grains of paradise. My LHBS doesn't carry it and I can't find it in my grocery store.
 
Some folks use small amounts of crushed black pepper.

Another option is Nigella Seeds from a middle eastern grocery.

But if there's an african/carribean market around you they should have grains of paradise.

Grains of paradise are peppery, but their flavor is very unique and complex. They're peppery, earthy, a little lemony if I remember right. So basically, do whatever Revvy said :D
