Love all the above. I'm a big Jason Aldean fan now. But here's one of my oldie faves. Dan, just for you!

All day I face the barren waste without the taste of water,
Cool water.
Old Dan and I with throats burned dry and souls that cry for water,
Cool water.

The night are cool and I'm a fool each stars a pool of water,
Cool water.
But with the dawn I'll wake and yawn and carry on to water,
Cool water.

(Chorus)
Keep a movin' Dan, don't you listen to him Dan, he's a devil not a man
and he spreads the burnin' sand with water.
Dan can't you see that big green tree where the waters runnin' free
and it's waiting there for me and you.
Water, cool water.

The shadows sway and seem to say tonight we pray for water,
Cool water.
And way up there He'll hear our prayer and show us where there's water,
Cool Water.

Dan's feet are sore he's yearning for just one thing more than water,
Cool water.
Like me, I guess, he'd like to rest where there's no quest for water,
Cool water.

LOVE this song, was just singing it awhile back. Hank Williams did a version of this that was almost eerie sounding. Good choice!

I've never set foot in Alabama but, if it is as wonderful as one of my favorite bands sings about... Would love to live there! I'm country raised but not from the south. Love the country group Alabama.

"Alabama".

Enjoy!

I'll probably go to he!! for posting all these songs for free.

Some more time in purgatory for posting.

One of my favorite songs when I was a few years younger. Oh, can't find it. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but here is a wonderful version of if from a couple singing in the backyard!

I guess that's it for now. Please keep this thread going with songs from your favorite country artist.

Ya know Mister? You are a very good man! You always take the bright side with you posts. And I'm guessing a few minutes research in the responses on some of mine, at least. Your kind intentions are very humbling.

Thank you Pappy for the great link! I'd never heard it before.

How about some more good ones without "Dan" in them. :D

GB,

Dan

TxBrew, thank you and all the moderators for this wonderful HBT website.

Sincerely,

Dan

Some pictures of glorious machines and a great video by Alabama.

Totally not country I suppose. I lived in Hawaii for 7 or 8 years. Never met this man in person but wish I did. He passed away young in life.

Here is a song from Brother Iz, Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole -

I probably posted this song earlier in this thread, just don't remember cause I listen to this song a lot.

Johnny Cash is one of my favorite country singers.. love his deep shaky voice.

There is humility and greatness in it.

I get choked up everytime I hear this song, hope that feeling never goes away..

I'm older than some and younger than others. My favorite movies were made many years ago.

Here is a quote from my hero.. yes I said my Hero. John Wayne. Might put a few of them on here.

Taps history told by John Wayne

Day is done, gone the sun
From the lakes, from the hills, from the sky
All is well, safely rest
God is nigh.
Fading light dims the sight
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright
From afar, drawing near
Falls the night.
Thanks and praise for our days
Neath the sun, neath the stars, neath the sky
As we go, this we know
God is nigh

John Wayne "AMERICA: WHY I LOVE HER" Music Video LYRICS

Don't know where in the heck this one came onto this playlist from. Certainly not John Wayne but love it!

^^ Glad I could help. Now you can post all you want!

Thank you for the new link countrygringo!

Since it appears nobody is reading the thread any longer and it provides me with a record of songs I love I will keep posting.

I've taken my original thread off track that's for sure. Now I'm going to derail it once again.

Here's a live performance from guitar and harmonica player Neil Young. Honest and uncut.

Not to bring every body down. But this one has my vote for the saddest song ever written/sung.

Vern Gosdin: Chiseled In Stone.

I'll second your vote! Real sad song.

The profound words of an elder, a person with a lifetime of experience can sure give our understanding of hardship a different perspective.

This is not the Debate forum so let's not start one please.

A very nice tribute to President Reagan on YouTube. Background music from Willie Nelson.

Thank you MullinsMovies!

MullinsMovies made this tribute and explains why.

The day after Reagan passed away, I gathered several of his best quotes and placed them in a song that I think summed up the way most Americans viewed him: a strong, independent, freedom-loving gentleman. Ronald Reagan, for me, was the consummate, iconic American hero... and I sure do miss him. Enjoy.
Happy 99th birthday, Mr. President!

I hope to move back to Hawaii soon. Please enjoy this video. It is sung in Hawaiian but I put the english translations below. Doesn't sound quite the same. :)

EDIT Help from those who understand the Hawaiian language and can translate it to English a lot better than I did. I'll put the words in Hawaiian at the bottom of this page. Help please if you can.

KA ULUWEHI O KE KAI :

TRANSLATION:
THE PLANTS OF THE SEA

Such a delight it is to see
The great big ocean,
So familiar and very cherished
With its fragrance of the lipoa

It is lipoa which washes ashore
Onto the shiny white sand
Hot from the heating sun as you step on it
Don't think that this is fun!

How enticing is the display of limu kohu
Atop the rocks in the ocean,
Enticing one to pick them
As they sway to and fro

KA ULUWEHI O KE KAI

He ho‘oheno ke ike aku
Ke kai moana nui la
Nui ke aloha e hi‘ipoi nei
Me ke ‘ala o ka lipoa

He lipoa i pae i ke one
Ke one hinuhinu la
Wela i ka la ke hehi a‘e
Mai mana‘o he pono keia!

Ho‘okohukohu e ka limu kohu
Ke kau i luna o na moku la
‘O ia maku ‘ula la e ho
‘Oni ana i ‘oi anei

This song is sung in Hawaiian. About the only thing I know how to say in Hawaiian is Aloha and Mahalo. Would be nice to know the words that go to this song of course. But the music and sounds of words are heavenly. I believe sung with a lot of heartfelt love and that's all I need to hear.

A beautiful Hawaiian song sung by I believe Brother IZ. Please correct me if I'm wrong about that. And if you can translate it into English please do, I couldn't.

"Ka Uluwehi O Ke Kai" by Hapa (Hawaiian Music)
