This was my second AG batch and I have to say that it looks like a good one but I
confess I was way off on the water bill. I added about a gallon of top-off water too.

In the end when I was racking to the fermenter I began to realize the the whole hops sucked up a lot of my wort. :(

I hope to get this dialed in better on my third AG.

I wished to save face on this one but I will humble myself.. Here it what I ended up with.. Not very good.. I need to use at least 7 gallons next time.. I think that the whole hops and boil sucked up a lot of the water. I had a better volume with my last (first) AG of Fat Tire.. :(

Some beer is better than no beer! I always have about 7 gallons to start the boil with - I will lose between 1 and 1.5 gallons just to the boil, depending on the weather and boil vigor. Another .25 to .5 loss to the kettle and I end up with about 5 gallons.

Wow, I've underestimated the volume before, but never by more than a gallon.
