Irish Stout for Pumpkin Stout?

I got an irish stout kit and I was planning on using it as a base to make a pumpkin beer. I was wondering if it would be too hoppy for the spices to shine through. The home brew shop is pretty close, should I get a chocolate stout kit instead?

That actually looks good. You should try it.
I was planning on a pumpkin pale ale but maybe I'll try that chocolate one.

yuri's thunderstruck pumpkin ale is a good recipe. since i do all-grain, i used 10 lbs 2-row instead of the dme, and nottingham yeast instead of the english ale yeast, using normal mash and hop schedules. came out good
