I'm collecting beer bottles and at the same time trying some different beers. I bought a Harpoon variety pack while on vacation. I had four different types of beer. (Three of each) A Raspberry Hefeweizen, a summer brew, an IPA, And a Hefeweizen called UFO.

I was anxious to try these since I've never had any kind of fruit beer (Except for a wedge of lime in a Carona. :D ) or a Hefeweizen. 1st: I absolutely hated the raspberry beer. I choked down the first two and finally gave up and pitched over half of the last one.

2nd: The summer brew was "OK"...

3rd: The I P A was pretty good. In general, I didn't like IPAs at first but I'm developing a taste for them.

4th: I really did enjoy the UFO Hefe. As this is the first time I've ever tried a Hefeweizen, I'm wondering if this is a good example of a Hefeweizen? Are there others that you would recommend that I try?

Thanks,

Kornbread

From what I have seen, yes. There UFO hefe is a very good example. There IPA is good, the summer and raspberry are horrid. Although if you can get there brown its a very good north english brown.

If I'm not mistaken, Harpoon UFO is more of an example of an American wheat. I think BJCP actually uses it as a commercial example. If you want to try a German Hefe then look for some Julius Echter or Weihenstephaner.
