I was wondering if it is normal for a lager wort to taste sweeter then an ale? I just finished my first lager extract brew and noticed a sweeter taste in the wort compared to the ales I have done.

lagers normally have a lesser IBU so yes it should taste sweeter before the fermentation is finished
lagers do not have a lot of the esters of flavors of an Ale so they require less hops
so'
everything is fine

Did you hit the desired FG? If so, yes, some lagers have a sweeter profile. But it isn't always easy to get them to FG, so that can be an issue.

I hit the og. Today is the first day in the primary. Im anxiously waiting for that first bubble.
