A new episode was supposed to drop last friday but there's been nada for two weeks. So is the whole project dodo?

It was totally falling apart for the last few episodes anyway. The hop video was just a bunch of crap. It was like a commercial for HopUnion and Northern Brewer. Nothing of substance at all. If you watch the first 40 episodes vs the last 10, worlds apart. If the new videos are going to be like that, there's no point in even doing a video. The sour beer episode is fantastic. The open fermentation episode, the lager workarounds episode, all awesome. But those were long ago. The lastest ones are nothing compared to them.

They haven't had a decent episode in a while. I thought they really had something pretty good there for a while. NB must have put the kibosh on the funding or something of that nature.

I've been going back and watching old eps recently. Really great stuff in there. Not sure if it's just because Dawson and Keeler left, but the recent ones pale in comparison. I did just find Dawson's blog - The Beer Engine - http://thebeerengineblog.com/ which is great but not BrewingTV

I'd like to see Homebrewer TV come back. Gary's a member here. His PHD & up beat attitude were quite likeable.

While I agree that the last few episodes were not as good and some in the past... It is still one of the best Homebrewing videos on the web.

They are in a transition period, go back and watch the first episode, not great but they figured it out. I hope they stick with it...

Maybe if everyone stopped bitching about how bad it has been recently they would be more likely to continue to try and figure it out in the post Dawson/Keeler era. Not every transition can run as smoothly as Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck (that's right, I used a football analogy). I have faith after going back and watching a few solo Chip videos like the Clemifornication one that this can continue to be done and done well so long as there is a desire to do it and support for it from the community. Keep it up and avoid the naysayers.

If the show continues to suck, they might as well quit making it and people should complain that it has turned into a 20 minute infomercial for Northern Brewer. Before it was subtle promo which was elegant and integrated. And people can complain if they want because their complaints are legit. Dawson should make his own video show.

All I'm saying is that it's not easy starting from scratch. They stopped doing shows and everyone complained that they stopped doing shows. So now they are trying to get something going without knowing exactly what that will look like and the results have been so-so and everyone is complaining that they are making poor shows. I guess my point is to forget the past, give it time, see what happens. It's like a young and harsh RIS, time will heal it or else it will get dumped but you can't complain too much about it now.

I guess your point about the infomercial quality of it is a legit grip, but honestly I didn't think that until you mentioned it.

I'm not sure why people are so surprised that it looks like a NB infomercial. It's run by NB employees and uses NB products. I have no problem with that, because half of the time they're just showing off the great products they have in stock and how to use them properly. If you got free products to brew with, wouldn't you? Odds are they're busy with something else, or they're still editing footage. What if they're wading through footage from GABF?

I like the show. Great production quality, nice people, good info...
Gary's show was awesome too. I always hate to see projects fall apart.

Hey Chap Wilton, you've gotta chime in and let us know what's up! Hoping to catch that Hopsplosion bizness soon.

I think it's dead now...at least in my eyes. Per Jake's twitter post, Chip left NB and took the camera (per Chips twitter post). I think it's dead and buried.

I wonder if they will keep the old videos up on the sites?

Yep you can see Chip's video and new project at: http://chopandbrew.com/

Thanks for that link. Now I have three new things to follow. Although I think Jake's blog has been kinda weak. Nice artwork, I just want some beer stuff though. Dawson's however I enjoy whenever it comes out. Chip's seems like it might actually be the most interesting.

There's nothing wrong with it having a "Northern Brewer" theme. The issue came up, and was never more evident than in the HopUnion video. There the show became little more than a 18 minute video telling me that Northern Brewer is so incredible, amazing, and has so much pull in the hop business that they could get first dibs on the most dank, resiny, powerful, and freshest hops EVER. Cue several cut scenes of someone smearing hops on their hands and taking a huge rip on the pile.

Obviously there's a change in the business plan because it seems everyone involved with the show left shortly after the show got really crummy. It's business. I geti t.

But the show was awesome for the first 50 or so episodes.

I read on the Northern Brewer forums that Jake Keeler and Michael Dawson have left Northern Brewer and did not leave a public reason. IMO, they were what made BrewingTV. Just a couple of beer geeks like the rest of us. If I had to guess, they probably left to start there own brewery. My 2 cents anyways.

I found Keelers linkedin profile looks like he's doing some freelancing now. Dawson's said that he is consulting since Sept. It sucks I really liked the BTV series. I learned a lot in the beginning and they continued to show me new concepts along the way. Cheers to Dawson and Keeler you will be missed :(

Here's some video love from me, Dawson and DonO for the old-schoolers. Also see my new project at Chop & Brew! First episodes will post soon!
Love, Chip.

Well NB just posted on FB that 'Brewing TV' is back. It's like having a your favorite band change the front man and hoping you don't notice it's not the same.

IMO they should just call it NorthernBrewerTV and leave Brewing TV alone. It will forever be Mike, Jake, and Chip and no one else. But hey looks like they own it so let them bastardize something that was great. Oh well.

Glad Chip is carrying the torch with Chop and Brew, can't wait for the bacon episode.

Thanks for the love, HBTers! First episode is uploaded to YouTube and ready to release this Friday. Having some hiccups with Vimeo for some reason, but hoping to have it there as well and iTunes in the long run. First episode is called "Two Reds are Better Than One!" Bacon episode is up after that! CHOP AND BREW! Chip @ C&B.

Maybe I should start an actual Chop&Brew handle for HBT?

So is there going to be a schedule like every other Friday or will it be at random?

I am aiming for every other Friday. Sound familiar? But I do have some graduate classes and a fairly intense full-time job now that doesn't include editing my personal-time webshow, so there may be sliding dates... but I really want to give y'all something to look forward to on the dates you expect you.

Just googled your title for the episode hoping it was up already, and wouldn't you know it the 1st result was for porn...

Watched the first episode yesterday and loved it. Thanks for providing me with my brewing video crack chip. I was seriously withdrawing bad man.

I'm really glad that people liked the first episode. The second one is going to be about makin' bacon... and the third about washing yeast. So a good mix of the Chop and the Brew. Cheers, all! Chip

Haven't seen it yet. I watch all of my BTV episodes on the treadmill or eliptical. That said, I gained a few pounds during your guys' vacation. It looks like it's time to start dropping pounds again. :mug:

Just watched the new BTV episode......

The word is...."Seriously??"

It was just plain bad. Hopefully it will get better.

I've become a Chop & Brew fan, the webisodes of cooking and brewing being done by Chip Walton. He even just had both Michael Dawson and Jake Keeler on the latest episode.
