Hey Guys-

So I have my beer in my fermenter and it keeps blowing off my airlock. What can I do. I took the lid off but it just blew the little plastic cup out. What can I do to keep it on?

Take the bung out, clean it and the airlock and put them on the shelf until the ferment slows down. Then sanitize both and put them back in. Nothing is going to go in with that much coming out. You can clean up the carboy in a couple days.

That's some good krausen porn. Keep your airlock on but instead of the cap put a blowoff tube. Remember to keep everything you touch sanitized. Once activity slows replace the tube with the normal airlock and fill with cheap vodka or sanitizer. You should be good from there. What beer are you making and what yeast did you use?

I'll have to get a tube before I do my next brew. It's a nut brown ale with just a simple dry ale yeast.

I think the same tubing that attaches to the bottling bucket will attach to your airlock. That's what I've used in the past without having to go buy a new tube.

Had the same issue this weekend. A hastily sanitized blow-off tube running into a small bucket of water + Star San kept the mess to a minimum. My primary is a plastic bucket w/ lid - it would have been a real sight if I had used a carboy!
