K-Mart water bottles

I was in K-Mart the other day and noticed that they have blue plastic water bottles in 3 and 5 gallons sizes. The price was a lot cheaper than the bottles in the homebrew shops around here.

These are made for drinking water. Woudn't they work for wine?

Cool, all the water bottles where I work are #1. Heh heh heh.

Yup....Deep Rock in Colorado uses #1 as well....I have a line of them for my Apfelwein.

After reading where several sources say that even #1 plastic is not safe to reuse (most seem to agree that 2, 3, and 5 are safe for reuse) I decided to just pay the extra $20 and get another glass 5 gallon.

Everyone agrees that glass is safe, unless it breaks and sends a shard of glass through an artery. In that case you are DEAD. It seems like a less painful death that toxicity induced cancer however.

I'm staying Old School. All glass.
