I had to go to a different LHBS today since my regular one was not open and I was looking for Montrachet yeast for EdWort's Apfelwein. The guy there was kind of an alehole, and he ended up giving me d47, after trying to upsell me in any way possible.. anyway, will this be ok for the apfelwein? Will it Kreusen? Should I just try to find Montrachet somewhere else?

I know this is a long time after your post, but others might find this useful. I used Lalvin D-47 for my first batch of Apfelwein and, yes, it works great. I can't compare it to Montrachet but the owner of my LHBS recommended it over the Montrachet and I was pleased with its dry yet distinctively apple-y taste. I'm now brewing my second batch and will be using d-47 again.
