Er, bit embarrassed to ask this.
Erm, how do you read recipes? I've brewed Orphy's Mild
https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f67/mild-mannered-ale-ag-e-uk-us-52776/
but I mashed and sparged as I had done on previous recipes. I want to try his porter -
https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f126/brown-porter-ag-38282/
and would like to know what exactly this means:
Name Description Step Temp Step Time
Mash In Add 12.03 L of water at 76.9 C 68.0 C 45 min
I have a couple of ideas.
Is one a sparge temp, and the other the mash temp? Is the second temp the mash temp after the grist has cooled the water which has been heated to 76.9 degrees celsius?
When i first looked at it, I thought it was a step mash.
Sorry for being a bit dim.
Phil
