I cannot find a simple Munich malt at Brewmasters Warehouse.

Under Caramel (Crystal) Malts, BMW lists the following:

Weyermann Cara Munich I
Weyermann Cara Munich II
Weyermann Cara Munich III

When a recipe simply calls for Munich, which type is selected if not stated?

Munich isn't a caramel malt. It's a base malt, though it's kilned at a higher temp than other base malts.

Edit: Doh! Too slow.

The Can You Brew It episode on Dead Guy Ale calls for Munich but does not specify which Munich.

So ...

Weyermann Munich Type II or Gambrinus Dark Munich

The grist bill calls for:
* 10.58 lbs US 2-row
* 3.57 lbs Munich
* 1.53 lbs Carastan (can sub Crystal 15)

I am confused as to why the recipe is not rounded up / down. In other words, why 10.58 pounds and not 10.5 - 3.57 pounds, not 3.5 ...

Use the weyermann. The other would be too dark for that recipe. I suspect that recipe was either scaled from a larger batch or converted from metric, hence the oddball weights. Just round them to the nearest half or quarter pound and it will be just fine. If I'm not mistaken, Yooper has a popular DG recipe posted too, you may want to check it out for comparison.
