Anyone else ever make a shake using beer instead of milk? It's actually pretty good.

I had a Guinness Expresso Milkshake at a bar in Oakland a few years ago. It was delicious. I've toyed around with making one at home using a Starbucks Expresso Shot can, but never did.

I've had a beer float (think root beer float, swap the root beer). Depending on the beer it can be quite delicious.

I've made a beer float many times before they are great. I've done it with guiness, deuschutes obsidian stout, but my favorite is with left hand milk stout.

Is it really as simple as substituting beer for the milk in the shake, or is there something else that you do to make it?

I've had a pecan porter shake a few times at a local theater, and it was incredible. I'd be curious to see what I would need to do to replicate it.
