I vote cream ale too. I used a modified "Cream of Three Crops" recipe and it was the quickest a keg has ever kicked in my brewing history. I'll be making another batch today:

----------------------------
Single Infusion, Medium Body, Batch Sparge
Step Time Name Description Step Temp
75 min Mash In Add 12.35 qt of water at 164.7 F 152.0 F

I use brown minute rice because I get it for free from a friend. I'm going to simplify this recipe a bit too, just an addition of low-alpha (5% or so) Cascade at 60 min, then a flavor addition of my choosing at flameout for a 10-min steep before cooling. I also ran out of Carapils, so I'm just going to sub some Crystal 10 and maybe mash around 154 instead of 152.

Well that does it, now I gotta go crush some grain.

I'm doing a cream ale (probably tomorrow) for June. If you ferment it cool, even with ale yeast, it'll be clean and lager-like. I like to use nottingham at 60 degrees, or pacman yeast at 60-62, for a clean finish. It's even better if you can cold condition it after fermentation.

somewhat off topic question, but i think ive only had 1 cream ale in my life. it was a Genesee Cream Ale, and i was not a fan. It seems like a lot of people like cream ales on here. Is a Genessee a bad choice for a sample cream ale? ive thought of making a cream ale and adding a few jalapenos in the secondary for a bit of spice, but my current opinions on cream ale keep me from doing so.

I recommend a Saison. Make it super dry and maybe even add some funk and you have a perfect lawn mower beer. Grab a Saison de lente from The Bruery for inspiration.
