I have a yeast cake in a beer I'll be bottling soon that I want to save a sample from, but don't want to pitch directly onto it. Is it possible to reculture the yeast to a point where I can store it in an old WLP vial? If so, what's the best procedure? Do I just grab some of the slurry, or should I make a starter and then decant and put the yeast in the vial from there?
