I have access to some hops yet the place does not know the variety that they bought. Is there a way to identify the variety (semi) easily? I dont know if someone has or knows of any differences in the plants that would help to identify which ones they bought.

This has come up many times, no it is not easy to tell. However without pics it is completely impossible.

Even for horticulturists, it's incredibly difficult. Sometimes you can guess from the history of an area (like in Wisconson, there are lots of "wild" cluster hops) but usually you can't tell a hop variety from the leaf or the cone.

I figured as much but thought I would check anyway. I have access to a few horticulturists so I may hit them up as well. Thanks!

I found this site that could help you identify your hops http://www.barthhaasgroup.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=25. You can try to match the varieties on the site with a leaf or cone you currently have growing. I'm in the same boat and would like some confirmation that my hops are in fact the Nugget variety. Let me know if anyone has a different suggestion, please. I was unable to get my picture to show but I posted it on Flicker, link below. Thanks.
