Hi all,
I have been brewing extract recipes for a year or two and am gathering equipment to go to AG. I stumbled on the following MT (thanks Ray!). I'm just not exactly sure what to do with it and what all the couples are for.

Here's what I'm thinking (guesses):

1 - 1/2" Half Couple for RIMS/HERMS?
2 - 1/2" Half Couple for RIMS/HERMS?
3 - 1/2" Half Couple for Thermometer
4 - 2" Half Couple for cleaning spent grains?
5 - 1/2" Bottom outlet

I realize that I need a false bottom. Does anyone have experience with this setup or any advice to assemble the fittings?

Thanks!

Because of the outlet at the bottom, I bet that it was from an electric system and the 2" outlet was for the heating element using some sort of adapter to get to 3/4". I bet two of the other 1/2" couplings were for the HERMS coil and the last 1/2" coupling was for filling the MT with strike water.

1/3 Herms coil in and out.
2 thermometer/thermocouple for PID.
4 heating element
5 drain

This was likely a hot liquor tank.

If you want to use it as a mash tun, use the #5 drain under a false bottom.
Put the thermometer into #3 and plug the rest.
