Leaf Damage...help

Hi all....My hop plants seem to be coming along,with the exception of a problem or two. So, I was hoping you guys could help me out.

I've posted the link to some photos I took below.

Does the damage to the leafs look like the work of a Japanese beetle? I have not seen any at all....I have noticed what appear to be "leafhoppers" on my hops, but I'm not sure if they would be the culprits.
I also had a problem with what I'm pretty sure was an iron deficiency, but I think I may have corrected that. Anyway, I'd be interested inany thoughts or comments you guys may have. Thanks

how far up the plant does the damage go? if its down by the bottom id say its ants or spiders.

Leafhoppers actually just suck the juices out of the leaves and don't eat them so you tend to get brown circles of death spots in the leaves if they were the culprit. Japanese beetles, tend to eat everything in the leafs. In your picks, it looks like the veins in the leaf are still intact. So I would guess some type of caterpillar? Could be Coma butterflies or some other moth or butterfly larva?

get some soapy water and mix a little vinegar in a spay bottle and spray it on the leaves. Especially after it rains. This keeps the bugs away from plants.

I had similar damage on my cascade hops. Inspect the underside of the leaves; I found small slugs there. Once I removed them, I had no more damage.

burying cans or mason jars up to the lip and filling them with beer will keep the slugs away they are attracted to the beer and will cause their own demise

I have no idea about Sevin but others might. I prefer to stay away from pesticides if I can. My solution is also cheaper. If you go the soap route use Ivory or some un scented soap. Where in LI are ya? I grew up in Rockaway and made the journey west 11 yrs ago.
