Quick question, I usually do a 2000ml starter with 200g of DME, but this tube I got today from the LHBS is old, got it cheap! Here's the thing, the guy said it should be just fine but to add a pinch of yeast energizer. So.... do I add this pinch before the boil? or after it cools? Does the boil kill the energizer? Yeah, I know, shoulda asked before I left eh? lol :drunk:

I add it before the boil to sanitize it. Most yeast energizers and yeast nutrients are autolyzed yeast (dead yeast cells that have been treated in some manner to break the cell wall down exposing the nutrients stored inside). The boil won't hurt them at all.

Either that or they also might contain urea, ammonium phosphate, etc, also not hurt by boiling.
