So I've built a CPVC contraption that will act as my fly sparge.

I want to drill a hole in the top of my cooler and connect the 3/4" CPVC to a hose from my HLT. That way I don't have to open the lid to sparge. Very exciting stuff.

My issue is sealing the cooler around the CPVC. What can I use to seal the opening? Waterproof caulking?

Yeah, whatever will hold it should be fine - even liquid nails or expoxy. It's not coming into contact with the wort at any point.

I vote for the liquid nails/JB Weld sort of thing... here is why. Is this actually providing holding power, securing the fly sparge contraption?

#1. It never contacts your wort.
#2. The cooler lid is probably HDPE, and silicone will not bond to that smooth surface very well
#. Silicone is not very robust, not a lot of HOLDING power, great for sealing though.

I vote for liquid nails/JB Weld... I have done a lot of building

Also, from your other thread, if you are going to fly sparge, you need to ditch the braid.
