Anyone have the black costing peel off of the element after a few boils? I have about 5 batches through the ekeggle, and the coating is flaking off.

No issues with my 5500W ULWD camco element after ~35 batches.

Yours looks to be a different model however, but the surface looks the same (other than the flaking that is...). ;)

That's 35 10-gallon batches in 28 months. I thought I was doing pretty well! ;)

I had that happen on my first batch with electric - I thought it was scorching but it could have been the covering - not sure.

has anyone had any luck brewing with those chrome type elements from the hardware store?

I just did my second batch with two 2000w elements. No prob getting 7 gallons to a hard boil.

The stuff you see comes off with a paper towel. It is not scorching.
