Is this something that the pasta attachment for Kitchenaid mixer can do? I don't have it (yet). Anyone know?

Wouldn't think so. Traditional spaetzel dough is very sticky and wet, sorta like thick pancake batter and wouldn't do you any good in a pasta maker. You can buy a real spatzle press or scraper at pretty much any kitchen store for like $10. Or a slotted spoon works too.

Aside, do like the Germans and add a bit of freshly grated nutmeg to the batter. Makes all the difference.
 
i certainly added some fresh nutmeg.

i've heard a pasta strainer works, but mine has too small of holes.
