If I can make beer, I should be able to make anything right? Last year my jalapeno plant yielded about 40-peppers, so this year I planted another jalapeno and a habanero plant in hopes to make my own hot sauce. Anyone have any luck with doing this?

I marinate peppers in olive oil and use the oil as a spicy condiment - very tasty. A pepper-infused oil.

Commercial hot sauce has a vinegar in it, I'm pretty certain.

I did a Hab Sauce last year that was awesome.

I pureed a lot of peppers, a carrot and an onion in my food processor then steeped it in vinegar for a bit. Put it back in the food processor, strained the seeds out and canned it.

I had to open up every window and door in the house and had fans going... We couldn't breath otherwise... If I do it again, I'm getting a respirator and goggles. Also, wear gloves!!! PPE is important and oils will make you uncomfortable or even burn you.
