So everything is ready to brew 2 batches of brown ales. Realized I forgot to buy muslin bags. So I'm thinking maybe use a white sock? Or parhaps just throw the grains in and then strain the worth after the steep? I'm leaning towards the sock but what do you think?

When I first started 15 years ago, I tossed the grains in the pot, and pulled them out with a kitchen strainer. I just stuck it in, swirled it around and pulled out what I could. Had to do it multiple times, but I think I managed to get pretty much every grain out that way.

So looks like I am throwing them in the pot and straining. Thanks.

I wasn't really looking forward to naming the beer after some variation of 'feet' anyways.

Good call on straining. I don't think a sock would stretch enough to fit your steeping grains, and besides that, it doesn't sound appetizing.
