Hello - newbie here wondering if a sulfite-free Campden product exists? Have a friend who has a pretty serious sulfite allergy. Would using a UV sterilizer (from an aquarium store) be comparable...or not advisable?

Thanks!

Just be careful. You don't need anything but cider in your bottles. I just drank a cider from last year with nothing but yeast added. It was delicious. If you want sweet you can bottle pasturise.

Campden/Kmeta free ciders do exist, but sulfite free ciders do not. Yeast produces sulfites naturally during fermentation.

A UV sterilizer for an aquarium would not be effective on raw apple juice since it's so cloudy, and does not inhibit yeast in clear cider. In this case, cold-crashing and in bottle pasteurization are your friends, or consider investing in a decent filter.
