I'm putting together a fantasy baseball league on sportsline.com and am looking to see if anyone is interested. It's a free league so the stats/setup/blah blah is not fully controllable, but it is going to be 10 teams, head-to-head, live draft (Sunday March 18), both AL/NL player pool.

PM me your email address if you want in and I'll send you the link to join. No abandoned teams!!!! You will suffer multiple contaminated batches if you are that ass who drafts a team then never checks it!!! :D

How much work is involved? I want to do fantasy baseball, but can't babysit a team. I'd do a structure where we updated like once a week, for example (I've only done - and damn near won - fantasy football, not baseball, so I'm clueless).

Ya, I'm interested, but I'd like to know the details. From what I understand, some baseball leagues require daily attention while others are a little more casual.

this is a weekly league - set your roster by sunday night and it's fixed for the next week. it's head-to-head, so you'd be matched up against another team. whichever team accumulated the most points (offense + pitching) gets a win. Two divisions, rankings based upon win/loss records.

i would not call it a high maintenance league by any means -should be pretty laid back!!

Sounds fun - how does the draft work?

Are there rules you can link us to that shows how scoring works?

You can count me in - I'd love to play.

Sending my PM now

I'm in.

Here's a stupid little thing; is this auto-draft or live? I honestly prefer auto, even though it's lame, since I haven't been following baseball that closely, I don't know the players all that well.

I'm not gonna do baseball.....really high maintenance.
FS--def lookign forward to some FFB though! ;)

Yeah, but if it's only once a week, how is it more high maintenance than FFB?

BTW - your LOSER beer is in my car, dropping it off at the UPS place this afternoon.

Here is a link to the league rules (i'm logged in at the site so hopefully this link doesn't require that you already are signed up.....let me know if so)

The draft is a live draft, but you can pre-rank your players and just have the computer go after them if you want or can't make it at that time. The draft is 7:00PM on Sunday, March 18.

dude - it's on. i have a decent idead as to how your draft order would go. :D

Duh - I see the draft answer.

Is this an all-home brewers league? We gonna do a home brew bet similar to Football?

Birdt & rd - just sent the invites from sportsline.

I invited three of my buddies to join up but only 1 has - i was figuring the rest would be HBT'rs.

Despite a few non-brewers, I say we work out some homebrew wagers. You guys seem to have a system after that epic fantasy football thread so let's go by that. something can be worked out with my friend.

I'm in a sportsline league now, set up the same way you've described. It's very easy to manage the teams and the site updates live so you can watch your scores real-time. None of the guys in my league are HB'rs, just plain old drunks, so we put up $150 per team, winner takes all.

yea, i've used yahoo, espn and sportsline and I think I like sportsline the best.

$150 per team winner take all? thats a pretty damn good payday!!!!

We did 3 beers for the winner - 2 for second and 1 for third and last for football with 16 teams. For those unable to bottle, a good area micro was suitable payment.

I'd think with 10 teams and two divisions, we should just do 1st and 2nd in each division with a little extra for the overall winner, but that's just my opinion. Whatever Fiery decides is cool with me as long as it's just a friendly small bet.

Yea, 2 divisions of 5 is a lot smaller than a 16-person league. I believe the playoffs work by having the two division winners as the top 2 seeds, then the next 2 best records (overall, divisions don't count) are seeds 3 and 4.

We could pretty much do the same thing as you mentioned with football - overall winner gets 3 from everyone, second place gets 2, third (winner of 'consolation' game) gets 1. That would be fine with me. As mentioned, my friend works in distribution so he can definitely hunt down some nice micros even though he doesn't brew. If this is cool with the people who join up, it's cool with me!

It also comes with a years worth of trash talkin' and bragging rights:D

You guys should definitely keep it to 10 teams though, we tried expanding my league and the player pool got too thin

Fiery, you've got to get yoiur buddy to joint he board, though, even if he doesn't brew - the FFB thread has like ten thousand posts of trash-talking, he's got to be in on that or it's no fun... :D

*ahem* Yeah and a lot of em have yet to pay up & I'm gettin thirsty!!! Forgive me, I've been drinkin....:drunk:

Actually I was kind of interested until I read the $150 per team wager. I'm too poor for that, and it kind of takes the "friendliness" out of it........

Ya, I'm in for the homebrew bet and it seems like that's what fiery sword has in mind. There is no way I'm putting up $150

No way, no cash. Homebrew or micros definitely. We've got until draft (March 18) to iron out the details - which will be worked out by consensus....I'm not into laying it all down myself. So let the ideas rip!

.....Low pressure fantasy. Well, kind of low pressure. :D

it wasn't exactly obvious - you need to sign up, then start a team, then search for the league.

Ize is in and 2nd Street Brewery has a reserved spot while he chills on his yacht in the Caribbean - this leaves ONE OPEN SLOT.

Once the league is full, we'll talk wagers. There are going to be 3 non HBT players but I'll be sure to involve them one way or the other. So far the HBT representation is myself, Bird, rdwj, Cheese, Ize and 2nd Street.

....C'mon Dude
, now that you've got al this non-mod time on your hands you can surely handle a baseball fantasy league. I'll even recomend a few over-the-hill starters for you. Guys that should have retired a few years ago. ;) :D

I'm REALLY not into baseball...sorry! I'd end up being a deadbeat and that wouldn't be fair to you guys! Wait til football season FS....you....bas.....................

Come on - there has to be one more baseball fan out there looking to compete!

Several of us doing this for the first time, so don't feel intimidated!

I am proud to say that I surely don't know what the hell I am doing, but by God, I am just as determined to make as big of an a$$ out of myself as the next man...

1 more. 1 for America's Past Time? You know. Summer, nice and warm, the grill going, the kids out of the house and out of your hair. You already cut the yard. (raked the rocks for our Diamondbacks fans :D ) The garage is as clean as you want it to be. :rockin:

A beer in hand and the game on the radio...

You know you wanna...

Jeez, was that FBB porn? :drunk:

Bigfoot = Good.

EDIT: for a point.

Ize is really getting at the root of it here:

Basebal is about summer, nice weather, beer and cigars outside with a butt and a few racks on the smoker, radio buzzing with pre-game lineups, SWMBO washing the car in a white tank top :D, golden lagers pouring from picnic coolers, and shimmering bottles of tequila floating in the icy sea occupying your bottling bucket. All this while you debate whether to start Pedro again despite an impending shoulder-injury coverup.

...this is like fantasy baseball porn....

Down to ONE team remaining! About 10 days left until the draft!!

Come on - who is up for it?!?!?
