Johnson control question

Does anyone know if it would work to hook up 2 chest freezers to 1 Johnson control unit??? Any help would be appreciated.

yes, just use a power strip on the out of the control. You would only be able to take the temperature of one, the other would be flying blind based on the other chest freezer

Yep, +1. And if you had a cheap digital weather thermometer (with wired remote sensor), you could at least verify the 2nd one was in the desired temp range even though it was not controlled with its own temp sensor.

You might want to make sure the current load of 2 fridges doesn't exceed the output on the Johnson though. It's designed to power 1 fridge, not 2.

Oh yeah didn't think about that part

It would not be advisable, even though there is a chance that it could end up working fine.

Instead of using one Johnson to control two fridges, why not buy 2 STC-1000 controllers from Ebay and mount one of them into each fridge? They work great and can be installed right into the fridge without much* hassle. The only thing is they work on Celsius so you might have to print out a conversion chart if you are an American. Then again, it's a great way to learn metric temperature!

I was going to buy one of these then noticed they are for 220v

This one is listed for 110v Has anybody bought from these hong kong sellers?

You have to be careful when ordering those. The majority of the listings are for 220V (foreign) models, but some of them specifically say 110V (even if the diagram pictures have 220V on them), OR in some cases they state in their terms that they will ship a 110V model to the US/Candada even if the listed model is 220V.

I've even seen a how-to that shows how to change a part inside to make a 220V model into a 110V model. So if you can find a screaming deal on 220V versions the conversion is pretty darned simple. But of course that requires a bit of DIY.
