I want to make a steam jacketed pot and wonder what people would advise on doing this in a DIY sense. The only feasible way I can see is buying a big pot and putting a smaller pot inside and then welding the two closed so that pressure can build inside the cavity between the two.

Any other thoughts on how to go about this?

You would need to rig in a pressure relief value somehow. High pressure steam is not my idea of fun.

If I get a 100qt pot, then place an 80qt pot inside of that and weld them together at the top to seal it. Then add in two ports, one at the top for filing and one at the bottom for emptying. Add in a sight glass and pressure relief and the pot is done.

How would I go about welding the pots together? This sounds like it could work!
