I am in a similar but different situation. I'm not too far (NC near Durham) and have grown Cascade, Sterling, Northern Brewer, Magnum and Nugget. In the end the Cascade and Nugget are the only two to thrive and produce in usable quantity. I'm looking for a suggestion for another variety or two that is known to do well in the southeast and hopefully something to offer some diversity from the Cascades that are burying me.
So, Rycov you may find that the hops you want to brew with do not grow well in your area. I don't think I have found anyone that has not done well with Cascade so I'd say that's a safe bet.
