I'm a newbee and just racked to secondary for the first time. I'm thinking I might need to add a little more mead/must to this carboy. Do you think I need to bring the level up closer to the stopper?
It looks good! You can add a wee bit more if you want, but the important thing is to have it filled to the narrowest part of the carboy and it looks like you've done that.
Thanks for the feedback, I might add a grunt more...I had about 500ml left over from the racking and maybe another250ml from earlier hydrometer tests (the two aren't mixed, though). I guess I need to post my haphazard brew-log for this batch. It's a traditional and has *really* surprised me on taste. I haven't stabilized it or anything and the last SG was around 1.009. No activity now in the air lock. Hopefully it won't change to much.
I'm really tickled as this is my second mead, the first being a JAOM which is 2 months old today and still has fruit floating but is smelling good. We'll see what happens. :cross:
