For some reason when I turn the pumps on after priming them they will occasionally suck too fast causing the tube to collapse and get bad flow. Do you think this is because I don't have a ball valve on the pumps and only on the keg?
 
Yeah, you want unrestricted flow into the pump. a ball valve on the outlet will let you control the flow rate without collapsing the tube.
