Milling grains at home

If its for all-grain brewing, I wouldn't use either one. If its for steeping grains (with extract), it will be fine, but I would probably have the store grind them in the future.
 
You shread the husks like nothing unless you use a mill style roller. If your coffee grinder basically cuts the beans, you will just be slicing the grain, you want to crush it. The double roller mill is the best thing to do this and well worth the money.
 
Well I have two coffee grinders one is a blender looking chopper, and one is a slow moving grinder that passes the coffee out as it grind. Yes the one would chop it to dust but the other, not sure as it is adjustable. Certain if I put barley in the grinders I would find barley beards in my underwear. YMMV.
