Did my first all grain yesterday. Yooper Pale was chosen. The pre-boil gravity wasn't even in the neighborhood. According to Beersmith it should have been 1.056...well I got 1.036. This was straight out of the boil pot after I stopped the sparge. Not sure if I needed to cool it first, not sure of what the temp was on it, but it was quite warm. Would the possibly make it read as whacy as it did?? I took a post boil gravity (after cooling the wort), and I got a reading of 1.050. Should I worry of RDWHAHB??

1.050@5gal=1.042@6gal so your temperature would have been 100deg for the correction to be true at 1.036.. thats way under sparging temps.. something else must be wrong..
