I have a house hold oil lamp. Can that be used as a subsitute for the lab style alcohol lamps to keep contamination from my yeast?

i think the idea is to create a clean thermal draft- you could put denatured alcohol in an oil lamp like someone above suggested

Someone freaked me out, they said I might be making a motov cocktail, and blow myself up glass everywhere, isn't my cup of tea. What about a small Cp cooker on the top of a camping cook stove like backpackers use?

you can burn denatured, grain, or even 91% iso alcohol in an alcohol burner. no oil though.

if you are just flaming utensils, you can use propane or butane as well (just not in the alcohol burner obviously...!). anything with very low residual particles (soot).
