I made a great oatmeal and want to add a hint of seetness too it. I have not played with lactose yet but have 3 lbs put away, any idea of how much to start with for a 5 gal batch? And how much water to lactose for the boil, seeing this will be going in the keg during racking.

Thanks:tank:

doesn't matter how much water...I use the smallest amout possible, roughly a cup or so if I can get away with it. just so you can dissolve the lactose/bottling sugar in there.

I would start with 1/3 or 1/2 lb if you're only looking for a touch of sweetness. A full pound is normally used in Milk and Sweet stouts and, if you've never had one, they can be pretty sweet as far as beer goes.
