Stones ruination turns the big 10 this year, and they are not messing around to celebrate. The made a special ruination that I will be getting my hands on, the blog says it will be 10.8% and doubles there hops per barrel from 2.5 to 5 pounds per barrel. Let me know if anyone would like me to get them one as I'm only about 10 miles away from the brewery.

I'll be in San Diego 6 days after the release party. I had their Ruintion double dry hopped with Citra, it was fantastic. I can't wait!!!!

I'll be picking up a few bottles of this. I'm annoyed that I was just at Stone two weeks ago and now they bring this out. Oh well, got a growler of Double while I was down there, so I made out pretty good.

in CA maybe... i'm hoping it makes it to PA, but if it does i wouldn't be surprised at $15-$20 a bottle here...

Nah, it'll be cheaper and it'll make it here. I think Stone's 15th Anniversary was ~$80/case for 12 bombers.

ruination is $9 a bomber/$20ish a six pack at my local six pack place. PA sucks.

Go to the distributor and buy a case. Much cheaper unit price. Find a friend or two to split it with, save you mucho dinero, my friend.

obviously a case is cheaper...brewing a clone is even cheaper... :)

Great point, but I find it hard to make a good clone. If anyone has a good recipe, i would love to try it out. But for me it's hard to justify making a clone of this as I can get a the freshest version 2L growler for $10 or so and 10 miles away.

They're distributing to GA, but I doubt it will make it all the way down here to Columbus. It'll probably stay mostly in Atlanta...freekin' Columbus...

I wonder if this is in stores here locally yet? I'm headed down to Newport after work, and hoping that Hi Time Wine Cellars has it already...

Anyone know if these have started seeing the shelves?

Fresh and easy in Lakewood ca had the 22 bombers of the ipa, ruination, and the arrogant bastard for 3.99 I bought a few but really want to try the 10th anniversary one.

I called a bottle shop I go to and they haven't received it yet. They told me to check back with them tomorrow. Can't wait!!!

I see that it has been added to the online inventory for some Bevmo stores as "out of stock" so I signed up to be notified when it's available.

I'm heading to Minneapolis in 2 weeks and hope to find some...my dad's buddy owns a liquor store in the burbs and carries a lot of craft beer, so if he gets it, I'm sure to be tasting it soon. Also, I don't think he knows what ruination should be priced at...any other store in Minneapolis has it priced between $17 and $20 a sixer, and at this place, it's $9.99! I buy a case every time I'm home

I picked up three bottles over the weekend in San Diego. It's ridiculously good; I'm not joking. One of the best 10%+ DIPAs I've had. I'll take it over Hoptimum, and for my tastes, that's saying something. I'm already planning on brewing a clone, and I've already thrown together a recipe. Stone makes that fairly easy. It's 5lbs per barrel of hops with a pound each of citra and centennial in the dry hop. Ruination is about 95% 2-row and 5% Crystal 15. Stone's yeast is WLP007. Pretty simple.

70% Effciency
21lbs 2-row (94.5%)
1.25lbs C15 (5.5%)

3.2oz Columbus @ 90
3.2oz Centennial @ 30
3.2oz Centennial @ 0
(I might cut the 30min addition to 1.6, and bump the flameout addition to 4.8. We'll see.)

Dry Hop:
3.2oz Centennial
3.2oz Citra

Dry Hops divided into two additions

4-5QT Starter of WLP007.

OG: 1.096 FG: 1.014

It's seriously an awesome beer. Tastes very much like regular Ruination, but the hop aroma and flavor is insane. They got it "balanced" very well, to use a ridiculous phrase. The hops meld with all the malt sweetness to ensure it's neither sweet, nor crazy bitter. Scottland, I'm definitely going to have to save that recipe. Be sure to post how it comes out.

I need to get a Pale Ale knocked out next weekend, but I'll be brewing that in the next 3 weeks or so.

I agree, one of the best examples of a DIPA I've had. The bitterness was firm, but not tongue-strippingly bitter. The hop aroma is beyond intense. Citrus and tropical fruit. It's dry, but still very drinkable. I took one sip, and said: I'm going to brew this.

We flew to San Diego, so I couldn't bring any back with me. I'm driving out to OC this weekend, so I'm going to take home a bunch of this. I hear it's not going to be available in AZ until mid-July.

In terms of recipe formulation, it was pretty simple. It's a 95%/5% 2-row/C15 split. Ruination is bittered with CTZ and uses Centennial exclusively from there. 3.2oz is exactly 1lb/barrel in a 6gal batch. So all the hop additions are 1lb/barrel. The numbers all line up, and it looks right. Stone does a very long whirlpool addition with Ruination, so guessing the times for the flavor/aroma hops was tricky. I'm planning on a 30min and a 0min addition, with a 10 minute whirlpool post boil. We'll see. Too be honest, I don't think it's that critical. Throw 6.4oz of Centennial at the beer anywhere between 30minutes and flameout, and I bet it'll be hard to tell the difference on this recipe.

I almost forgot: From taking their tour, I know they use Great Western C15. Considering there's only one specialty malt, I might as well get it from the same maltster.

had it last night down here in Mexico. My local bar tender/business owner went to CA in order to take care of some business over there and took it from there all the way to SD. He was kind enough to share one with the co-owner, their best client & me (probably 6th or so best client, it helps to teach'em how to brew). We also shared an oaked arrogant bastard and i had the IPA for myself.

he was able to bring back only two cases (24 bottles), I bought a couple of bombers for $200 MXN each ($14 USD). Considering the plain ruination IPA goes for $112 MXN, i'm pretty happy with my purchase, i might have to buy a couple more.

the body and head retention on it is just insane. The aroma is freaking nuts and the flavor is to die for. I swear every burp you take after drinking it contains at the very least 1 hop pellet

Wow!! Doesn't taste like its a 10.8% beer...really!
The aroma is awesome!! Super aggressive hop profile..still could be bitter tho...
imo the one of the best beers on the market right now..
My liquor store sold out of these bombers in 2 days...glad the owner saves me beers for me (he loves my homebrew!! )
If you can grab one, grab two!! Soo worth it!!

Here's what we drank while in San Diego. It's amazing. I'll be buying more this weekend assuming I can get it.

That's what really struck me about it. It's a huge beer, but you don't realize it until you go to stand up. I managed to snag 4 of them and I don't think they're going to last long. I already loaded Scottland's recipe into Beersmith for a future brew date. Stone needs to seriously think about making this one a seasonal.

I sent Stone an email saying how good this one is and begging them to make it a seasonal. The response was as follows:

Hey Kevin,

Rarely do I say this, but I agree with EVERYTHING you said 100%. It’s a huge beer with incredible balance that drinks dangerously well…and I can’t get enough of it. I’m going to be heartbroken to see it go and it seem stop be disappearing fast. We actually sold 90 cases of Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA in five days here at the brewery, which was our total allotment. That means we’re out of it, which, in turn, means I’m pretty bummed.

I hope we make this one a seasonal too and I’ll continue to beg and plead on the behalf of Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA fans everywhere.

Thanks for writing us Kevin. I appreciate it.

Cheers!

So to everyone looking to try this (and people looking for more) better hurry up. I already checked all the places near me and they're sold out already.

Fingers crossed I'll find some this weekend. That beer was delicious. On the bright side, I'll be brewing my proposed clone in about 2 weeks, and with any luck it'll be on tap by by the beginning of August.
