So I have a collection of 22's that I've built up in anticipation of bottling my first batch. I washed them out as I was finished with them to avoid the ickies building up in the bottom. Now for getting the labels off. I cooked them in a stock pot at a low temp to soften up the labels and when they all fell off, I pulled to pot off the burner, let the bottles cool a bit, and the scrubbed off the gum residue with a Brillo pad, rinsed well and let dry.
Short of the sanitizing prior to bottling, have I cleaned them well enough?
Cheers,
