I just bought a new 10 gal. brew kettle and another kettle to help with sparge water. I wonder how some of you mark the kettle so that you know the volumes you are dealing with? Do you etch the inside? Something inside me is recoiling at the possibility of screwing up this new piece of equipment.
 
NICE! Thanks a bunch - seems kinda stupid that I ask now that I realize how easy the answer is. Different sticks for different pots - but still the best method!
 
I had the same question and felt pretty stupid when a dipstick solution was offered. Reminds me that I have to get the small diameter SS tube out and mark it up!
 
I marked my spoon with perminate marker. Added 1gal at a time, and added all my marks. 5gal marks are larger than the 1gal marks.
