Pumbaa's earlier thread got me thinking that it would be cool to get to know all of you "imaginary" friends a little better, so let's play "Who are you?".

I liked most of Pumbaa's topics, so let's go with some of those, and 1 or 2 more just for the heck of it. This is totally voluntary. It does contain religion, political, and other possibly controversial subjects, so if you can't be an adult, please refrain from posting in this thread. Once we (the mods) start seeing argumentative replies, we'll sh!tcan the thread.

ok, I'll do it!

1. I'll be 43 in March

7. I'm "middle of the road". Some things I'm more liberal about, some things more conservative. I noticed that as I get older, I get a little more liberal.
8. I don't like to use the word "religious". But I am a Christian and go to church and raise my children as Christians. I live my life as a person who follows Chrst.
9. I drive a Chevy z-71 4 WD pickup.
10. I'm very outgoing and talkative. I love people. I talk to people in the grocery store lines. Drives my kids crazy.

It depends. I'm pretty friendly, but not exceptionally outgoing.

I think that global warming is the Democrats version of the War on Terror. Ya, there is probably something to it, but it's being used as a political tool and isn't the crisis we're being led to believe it is.

I'm scared of elevators. I'm ok for about 5 floors or so, but when I have to go up in a skyscraper, I break out in a cold sweat and hang on to the rail for dear life.

Right now, it's 85 degrees in my room, sirens are going off, it smells like poo, if I go outside, it's 20 degrees, and I have to wear chemical protective gear just for practice, and I'm 6,000 miles away from everyone I love.

On the other hand, I get to play with some pretty cool toys...

yeah I'm sure I was in the Navy and was planning on making it my career when Mr. Clinton forced me out. Now that I'm a fireman/paramedic I only get to do half of you job . . . they get upset when I kill people. and I dont even get to do it "for global peace". When I retire I'm thinking of moving to Texas, I'll do the executions for free

Outgoing, sometimes rather cynical, some say I have a dry sense of humor.

Is the planet warming? Yes. How much of that is natural cycles in Earth's climate that we don't yet know or understand? Probably most of it....there were palm trees in New England when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

Yes and no. Is the globe warming? Most likely. Is it anything we did, and can we stop it? Global warming and cooling is a periodic process that has happened more than once over the earth's history. We may have sped the timetable up on this current warming phase, but we didn't start it and neither can we stop it. Until a catastrophic atmospheric event occurs (large meteor impact, massive volcanic eruptions, anything that fills the atmosphere with solar-blocking material) that will reverse the process slowing it down is about all one can hope to do.

I ran for a legislative position in VA in 2005 and am running for a county elected position this year.

Or the warming of the planet stops warm ocean currents from transporting heat poleward, like the Gulf Stream and ironically triggers an ice age. I really think that was amuse me for some reason, that would define irony.
 
What's with all the Libertarians? You would think more would be elected based on this small (very small) sampling.

A cheesehead from Milwaukee at heart but hate the cold. Tucson now.

IT Director who wishes he could just be an IT geek again.

Quit in 2003 now firmly addicted to Nicorette gum.
7. What way do you "lean" politically?
Was a right winger but hate em all lately. Conservative but concerned over the gap of haves/have nots.

Was but not as much as I used to. Won't whine, but a lot of crap has happened...
9. What do you drive?
2007 Mazda 3, 2003 Mazda Tribute. Not a huge Mazda fan, just happened that way.

Can be outgoing or quiet but not shy. Tend to think before I yap but also opinionated on something I'm passionate about.
11. Do you believe in global warming?
I believe we are having an affect but to what % is difficult to say. Earth is cyclical anyway. We aren't killing the planet and to think we could is rather arrogant. Only the sun blowing up or some other event not on this earth could do that (meteor our size, shift of solar system position). The worst damage we could do is kill ourselves off (Nuc's). Earth would come back just fine and some other "thing" would rule the planet. Maybe its earthworms next. Did I mention opinionated sometimes above?

Became a grandpa Oct/06. I had hair like the wedding singer for a period of time in the 80's & my wife had this wierd mulletish looking hair. We were so HOT!

Outgoing, sometimes rather cynical, some say I have a dry sense of humor.

I don't think people should be rescued when they fall through thin ice, it's called natural selection.

3. Do you have kids? None of my own. Wife has 3 daughters (all married before I came along), 6 grandkids (actually would have been 8, but …) and 4 great grandkids.

5. What is your occupation? DAC – Dept of the Army Civilian. GS-12 equivalent to a Major. Retiring in less than 2.5 years. Currently, I am the Equipment Specialist for the M109A6 Paladin 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzer. I used to be a LAR where I played with all the Army’s weapons…all small arms, mortars, Bradley, Abram, towed artillery, et al.

6. Do you smoke? Quit March 5, 1990.

7. What way do you "lean" politically? I consider myself a Conservatively Liberal Radical.

8. Are you religious? Raised Roman Catholic. Was going to be a priest at one time. So I know a lot about the contents of the Bible. They couldn’t answer certain questions I had as a youngster so I figured “In the beginning…” was a lot like “Once upon a time…” and consider the Vatican to be the first Mafia since Christianity is not about what Jesus taught, but what Paul thought it was supposed to be…then Erasmus, then Augustine, then Luther….besides, Jesus basically practiced Buddhism. Other than that I don’t have an opinion one way or another. If it works for you…go for it.

9. What do you drive? Black ‘99 Pontiac Grand Am and a white ’03 Grand Prix.

10. What would you consider your personality? (outgoing, shy, bubbly, etc.) I’m probably the most extroverted introvert you’ve ever met…and a joker.

11. Do you believe in global warming? Yes, and global cooling also…I think it’s just a bunch of experts (I detest that word – its definition means “guessers”…) who climb aboard on persons opinion. The Earth has gone through so many of these that it’s not funny. So, are we causing it? Probably to some extent, but I think nature has a way of protecting itself…unfortunately, the correction process could include mankind’s extinction. How are we to know?

a. I like conspiracy theories. Mostly because all rumors and conspiracies in my lifetime have been 99% true. The only exceptions are from politicians people who claim they are “not guilty”. The people who put them down are the real conspiracy theorists who want us to believe something different.

b. I think we should press for a constitutional amendment that states a politician is not allowed to speak unless they are hooked up to a polygraph and must answer every question the public asks without starting off with phrases like “…the committee…” . “Excuse me, sir? A simple “yes” or “no” answer will suffice”. “Now, did you take any bribes?” Can you explain to the public how you turned your annual salary of $180,000.00 into $27 million over the past 2 years?”

c. Oil is not a fossil fuel. On the microscopic level there are no fossils in it. Oil is a substance the Earth produces naturally. It has always been there. It will always be there. There never has been or ever will be a fuel shortage unless it’s man-made (not refining it).

d. I believe aliens exist and Osama is dead.

e. I think the American education sucks and does not prepare anyone for life. Everyone should be taught how to shop, cook, learn how banking works (checking/savings accounts, credit cards, etc.), how to change a tire and do oil changes, oh, yeah, and home brew.

f. College and health care should be free. Our tax $$$ goes to too many other places outside of this country. Let’s feed and shelter ours first. Politicians have no right to spend our money in ways the public does not want it spent…they only get away with it because they have us believing we gave them that right. We did not.

g. I think there are way too many greedy people in the world…OK, in the US…and most of them are in DC. It’s easy to pass a law you don’t have to follow.

h. I’m for televised public executions. Jail/prison is not a deterrent. Gun control only regulates legal owners. That is wrong. Everyone, except felons, should be able to carry a gun. Not knowing if someone is strapped themselves is a crime deterrent.

i. Food is no longer food. All we are eating is additives (sugar, salt, preservatives) with an essence of the actual product we are paying for. Too many chemicals are sold mainstream that are causing a majority of all the illnesses in the world…which should entitle you to free health care. I think there’s nothing wrong with cloned meat as long as the politicians eat it for 10 years prior to releasing it to the public…just to make sure it’s safe.
