No sign of fermentation in 20 hours

I used liquid yeast for the first time last night and It has shown no real signs of fermentation. The last brew I made was an IPA with dry yeast and it was churning by the second day. Am I over thinking this ?
 
Did you make a starter? Why are you worried at 20 hours? Wait for 72 hours, and lets see if it's still not fermenting.
 
Make sure your stopper is tight. I've been brewing for 20+ years on and off...and I just got caught on that one. Never assume...ever
 
I pitched a big starter into lager for the first time about a week ago. Saw essentially nothing for airlock activity for 72 hours, and then by 96 all it was doing was lifting the inner cap of the three-piece airlock, not enough to allow a bubble to come out. Thought it was a dud so I took a sample. Low and behold it was half way to FG at ~96 hours.
