You're bright
and you're right.

Too easy?
I guess it was cheesy.

Here's one that's Icky.
What's brown and sticky?

I played with for al iteel while. Got through about 19 of them before I got busy and had to stop. Is there an answer key? I would love to see them all. It was pretty cool and damn hard!

I got six or seven (I'm at work)
Boss came in and went beserk (not really)
But it did put an end to the fun
Like WGB said it's a tough one son
So I'll give it another try at home
At least there my boss can only bother me by phone

I'm sure you see that Slainte-brew
got it before you.

I added another
told to me by none other
than my six year old daughter
not yet has anyone bother-
-ed

to tell me what is brown and sticky.
the answer really isn't icky.

Please please lab rat brewer
I answer better than I ask
give us another so I can post fewer.

I once fell into a barrel of wort
I'm glad to say that it didn't hurt

At that time that brown and sticky thing could have been me
But now I see.
The answer's plain to me
That thing you seek both brown and sticky
Is simply a Tree.

This one is not from my mind
an internet search so be kind

Sabrina gave Samantha as many dollars as Samantha started out with.
Samantha then gave Sabrina back as much as Sabrina had left.
Sabrina then gave Samantha as back as many dollars as Samantha had left,
which left Sabrina broke and gave Samantha a total of $80.00.
How much did Sabrina and Samantha have at the beginning of their exchange?

It's pretty easy if you can deal with the working memory and resist being overwhelmed by tracking the names*.
Though I don't know if I'd actually call it a riddle as it requires very straightforward thinking, rather than "lateral", outside-the-box headgames.
All it requires is working it out in reverse,
And I'd bet that most people could probably get it quite easily if they work it out on paper, even the most perverse.
So unless this question is hiding a trick so nifty
Samantha had thirty dollars, and Sabrina had fifty.

*(I'm pretty sure the similar names were even chosen to further amplify this effect)

This one might have been played before.

Gonna take a chance and play it once more

A man gave one son 10 cents and his other son 15 cents.

The sky was cloudy and dreary

Some folks would stay home and not be in air so un-cheery

What time is it?

I'll play and I'm drunk
But in a bit of a funk
It's late I must say
At the end of the day
The question u ask
Isn't such a great task
It's 11:38 pm
but I don't have A rhyme.

I'l stick with I'm drunk!:mug:

Both responses were incorrect
Maybe my clues were derilect
This riddle did not need more curves
Straight forwardness might better serve
So take out the weather report
And let me hear your retort
I've been splitting wood into quarters
It's 15 till two and I need to feed my boarders

1:45 pm. Or put another way, a quarter to two. I'm assuming they'd either be asleep or trading larger amounts at 1:45 am...

Ok, I don't remember this one, and it may be easier now than when I heard it as a kid..

Boy is out riding his bicycle home from his Eagle Scout troop meeting, and wipes out on some loose gravel, breaking his arm and generally banging himself up pretty good. His dad, following him home on the car, scrapes him off the street and takes him to the emergency room. The surgeon takes one look at the boy and says "I can't treat this boy." Why?

I don't think you are telling this right,
The dad is supposed to die that night.
The surgeon says "that's my son, please don't bother"
We can only assume that it is his mother!

That's a classic one, heard it before
Can anyone give us some more?

In the past, perhaps, I am euphemistically drunk
If so, I'm lifted with cheer not sunk
Add some flavor and strap me to the back of a cat
well then I don't know what you'd make
but drop that cat and it will levitate

I have an answer in my head
Got to try to rhyme in this thread
As usual I'm often wrong
I'm pretty sure it's not a bong
That you are talking about
But it does sounds good to hold a stout
I think a kegerator would be dear
To pour a beer into which you cheer.
Anyway enough play
So I'll take a guess and say
It's a mug lifted high
And it makes me just sigh

(I was on a roll and proabably wrong.. just singing the rhyming song)

I have no clue,
But I like this thread
It makes me smile
And brings happiness to my head.
I'm glad to know, people still rhyme
and appreciate you all taking the time.
One of these days, I'll get one of these riddles
But for now, my thought stay little.
Cheers to all, I raise my drink
and continue to ponder.. and think

Hello again, one and all
Been absent awhile early this fall
I think I have the answer in mind
As dumb as it is, its fits in kind
So again thank you all for this thread
The answer I think, is buttered bread?

Wow man wow and holy cow
Can you explain the answer processed by your brain?
LabRatBrewer said your were close the answer being toast
But please tell how you got there, it's time for you to boast. :mug:

I can tell you but it wont be in rhyme. Not smart enough for that.

Since a cat always lands on its feet and toast always lands butter side down, by strapping buttered toast to a cat, the cat will "hover" and in theory spin fast enough to generate power if connected to a windmill or something! Haha

Again all I can say is WOW WildGinger! I bow to your riddle solving greatness! I would never have figured that one out in a million years. :mug:

I'll hold off the rhyme for a moment in time.

Yep, that was what I was going with re: the cat
Also the first clue was in the past (meaning tense) and euphemism for drunk Toast-ed
And then lifted up in cheer is a toast.

In fairness to everyone and so you dont think i am much smarter than i really am, some friends and i were actually joking about this, using a cat to generate power by tying buttered toast to it, a few weeks ago. So it was still relatively fresh on my mind. If it wasnt for that, im not sure i would have gotten it. Later I'll try to find the picture and post it for your enjoyment.

Here ya go. Now you'll understand! haha

What bugs me most is this next riddle
I've only solved it while playing my fiddle
You'd think once I figured it out
A replay would be like pulling a stout
But each time I hear it again
I don't remember the answer, or where to begin
For me the answer is exclusive
For me the answer is reclusive
Everytime it comes up now
I scratch my head and say WOW
I figured this one out before
But since then it's been more than a chore

I know there are many bright minds here on this sight
And very soon quickly one will get it right

When I was 17, I came to a dithering cross
By a task that was given from the big boss
He said “Boy!”, (He was 82 years old and always called me that)
He said, “Boy come feed all of my cats.”

Man there were like 16 of them, and I was in awe at the task I saw
He said give them each a quart of milk; each and everyone of them all
I did quick times tables in my head..
Sounds like 16 quarts I need them to be fed.

Next, he said here are your tools
A three gallon jug and a five, I’m no fool
16 quarts with these weird rules
Somehow I had to measure it out
And dang it I was to young to drink stout.

If you figured out this much so far
How did I split 16 quarts equally among 20 ounce jars – (PS. Don’t ask me I never got that part right)

Maybe you will and then sleep quite right.

So enough rambling in my stupid way
Here is your riddle, lets hear what you say

I have to admit
I'm a little distraught
How 3 and 5 gallons equal 20 ounce jars I know not.
Maybe I missed a part of this riddle
Or maybe my mind is just to little
It could perhaps be the bottle of wine
That I just finished, making me feel real fine :)

one thing I must ask
to help me figure things out
is it 20 single ounce jars?
or did he go the 20oz jar route?

The 16/20 ounce part is not what this is about
To be quite honest its not a part, I'm a lout
The riddle my friend is about 5 and 3 making four
Thats the hard part. I shouldn't have asked more
If somebody figures out the 16/20 thing
It will be pure genius and a challenging time he will bring
I'm trying to make old riddles different
I screwed up this one... (no rhyming end)

Concentrate on this:

Goal 4 gallons

Vessels to measure that out. One 5G and one 3G. You can use them any way you want. Dumping out and not reusing is fine. In fact, necessary.

This one explained that way I can do
I'm trying to figure out how to in a rhyme or two

If the 5 gallon jug is empty and the 3 full
You could pour 3 into 5, leaving space for two thats the rule.
fill once again the 3 and top off the five
leaving 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jug alive.
Dump out the 5 and fill it with the remainder of the jug that holds 3
leaving just 3 gallons needed, you see.
Fill once again the 3 gallon vessel
add it to the 5, this idea you need not wrestle
Once this is done, the riddle is solved
leaving the 4 gallons needed, with too many steps involved.

I'm not going to even try rhyming this! Way too druck.

(Edit: I saw the above post only after I wrote the rest of this post, but noticed I actually solved it differently!)

Fill 5gal jug
Pour it into 3gal jug, leaving two gallons in 5gal jug
Dump 3gal jug, pour the two gallons into it.
Fill 5gal jug again, start pouring it into the 3gal jug (which already contains two gallons)
Once the 3gal jug is full, you're left with four gallons in the 5gal jug
And we don't use quarts here in Canada, but if I'm not mistaken, 4 gallons equal 16 quarts, so there's the milk you need.

When I first saw the 2nd part, I thought that's too simple, is that really the right question? And then I really thought about it, and it might be much harder than it seemed. And I'm not even sure I even really understand it or the rules. Can more milk be wasted than the 6 gallons in the first part? Are there unlimited 20oz jars?
