Getting ready to brew a batch monday . I will be using 8 lb. of 2row and 2 lb. of white wheat malt. I have read that u need to use rice hulls when mashing wheat. With 8 lb of 2 row i think i will be ok but not sure, what do you folks think. Thanks in advance.:mug:

I routinely brew the BCB Rye IPA and the SWMBO Belgian Blonde in the recipes section, and I use no rice hulls whatever. The former uses 2 pounds of rye malt (reputed to be a mash-sticker, like wheat) with over 12 pounds of other malt, and the latter uses four pound of wheat malt with just 5 pounds of 2-row. Nary a problem with the sparge. (I use a standard Bargain Fittings braid-type sparging manifold in a 10 gal. cylindrical Rubbermaid cooler).

i throw a handful of rice hulls in my mash tun for all my beers
sorta like my medical insurance: i don't ever go to the doctor, but it's nice to know it's there if needed
