HI,
Newbie here, only one batch recently bottled and 3 still fermenting.
A buddy just gave me 2 - 30' coils of 3/8" copper. I just bought a keggle and am converting a cooler to a mash tun to prepare for all grain brewing.

I am thinking of using this copper to make a counter flow chiller using this tutorial in the wiki.
And also make a pre-chiller using the basic immersion chiller design in a 5 gallon bucket with ice.

Anything you would do different with 2 - 30' coils of coppper?
THANKS,
Lakedawgs

In indiana, I'd probably hold off on the pre-chiller, and maybe make a HEX for a HERMS. Then again a pre-chiller and a HERMS coil are about the same thing. Sounds like a good deal either way even if you want to send me the extra 30' coil to make my own CFC.

Thanks,
I'm guessing I will go ahead with the pre-chiller as I can change that to something else later if needed.
Got my hose yesterday, off to pickup my copper fittings after work today.

Duh, thanks for the heads up.
The copper is 3/8".
The rubber hose is 5/8". I am using your plan for the build. Nice write-up.
I have already bought the rubber hose. Going to get the fittings today hopefully.
THANKS
