I really like some of the content and the guys seem to know what they're talking about (except when they're talking food pairings.)

The problem is when they start slurping their beer INTO the damn mike. It's an incredibly disgusting sound. I swear you'd think you're listening to gay porn with the slobbering, slurping and swallowing.

GUYS mute the f'ing mike when you're drinking!

</rant>

I feel better now.

I haven't listened to that one yet. I listen to The Brewing Network all the time though. They can be highly annoying as well, but they usually provide good info.

I guess I'm wondering why *gay* porn was the first thing that came to mind, since most *straight* porn includes plenty of slurping, slobbering, and swallowing...

I've tried all of the brewing podcasts out there, and the only one I really like is Basic Brewing Radio & Video. For me, the others are either too boring or have too much non-beer related content. I'm not really interested in Joe Beerdrinker's opinions on music...

i end's up making very thirsty for a damn beer. not the greatest when I'm driving around or at work or whatever.

i agree I get annoyed with the lack of brewing and beer information/technique on alot of the shows.

I listen to Basic Brewing pretty regualrly, and occassionally the Jamil show. Sometimes, Jamil seems to come across a bit like a snob, but it's still good information.

I really like the Brewing Network, but sometimes those guys just get too goofy and waste TOO much time. Some of the content they have is awesome though.

I also wish they would watch how much they drink sometimes though--especially with important guests. I think they had John Palmer on a while back and the doc was drunker than a skunk before the show even started. I was embarrassed for him.

Was that the one where they were going to discuss decoction mashing and it was basically Doc describing his botched 9hr decoction mash as opposed to the guest giving useful information? It was the first and last time I tried listening to them. The gal's accent was kind of sexy, though. Hopefully nobody posts a picture that ruins it for me.

Yeah, that was the one. They had a brewing legend on and the freaking host was so smashed he could barely talk, and unfortuanately for the viewers, talked more than the expert guest. It was ugly.

I never listen to those guys live because of all the BS. I download the podcast and fast forward through the crapola. Usually I get good info from the shows though.

I'm going to try some of the other craft beer shows too though. I'm like a sponge.

Yeah, I knew that was going to be mentioned. I only qualified it as gay porn because the hosts are both men.

:D

I was assuming it sounded essentially the same as straight porn with deeper voices and more talk of beer.

Their interview with Jim Koch went really well this week. Justin interviewed him sober then they just played the interview back on the program. I can't imagine what would have happened had Doc been 8 beers in and then they tried to have Jim on live.

So let me get this straight.....there's a radio show where they have esteemed members of the brewing community on for a chat, and the host(s) get loaded? And they don't get fired?

I might just have to contemplate broadcasting school.

and supposedly the guys at the network are turning snob and throwing threats of copyright around.

that shows signs of straying from the ideals of the community big time. lost a little respect for em there.

There's pictures on their website.

This ones nicer but no rack!

I agree! I always download the archived shows, too, just for that reason. But that seems to be true of almost every podcast I've ever heard! They make college radio station DJs look like Casey Kasem!

There are some pics of Daniela on their website.

LOL..... It was intended to be a joke and then got a little out of hand...

Have you listened to the Jamil show? I just listened to an episode yesterday for the first time and it is great - and specifically homebrew related.

The Jamil show is phenomenal. It features 2 of the most successful (by awards in many different styles) homebrewers on the west coast.

Each show they highlight a different BJCP style and talk about their own experiences with it and how they brew. Jamil was also just added to the staff of B.Y.O. and will be writing an article on a different style in each edition.

Jamil can come across as a bit snobby at times, but it's a great, very informative show. I've listened to probably two-thirds of them by now. Co-incidentally, the walk I take the dog on each day is almost exactly one episode long.

Just listening to the archives again.

BN Sunday Live Show 12-11-05
2hrs 33m minutes in.

The Charlie PAP interview.
At the End Daniela says to the PAP, just one comment.......

That comment was about me.....My little claim to fame. :ban:
(no name mention though, just my location)
