I'm kind of freaking out about a yeast starter I started earlier today. Juggling a cook tomorrow and finishing my Xmas shopping has me worn a bit thin. As a result I forgot to activate my wyeast 1028 yeast prior to starting my yeast starter. Being rushed my slap pack only sat for 1 hour before placing in my starter. Did I just kill my yeast. Any help would be great.

The pack in the pouch is a small nutrient pack designed to 'proof' the yeast. That is all. The starter is to make much more healthy cells. Provided you didn't bugger that up, it will be fine.

Nope your fine all that are in those packs that break open are energizers if your making a starter you don't even need to smack them just tear them open and dump everything in the starter wort and go about your business
