I know there is probably a great reason not to do this. After I get an element into my megapot, can I use it to heat frying oil for french fries and various other fryed favorites?

So I guess a two part question:

Would a 2000 watt element get frying oil hot enough? Assuming its only a couple gallons of oil.

If it is feasible, is this more unsafe than frying using a turkey fryer?

Thanks ahead of time for any info.

Wellll, cleaning the oil out of your megapot will be a nightmare. But, I'm not sure how the oil will affect the heating element or if that is enough power. - Dwain

I have an electric turkey fryer that is 1800w. The element is very large so very low density. I would guess an electric kettle would fry a turkey if you wnted to do it. Just be careful not to overheat the oil and have an exploding kettlefryer.

I bet it would be safer than gas for sure. You won't have flames to ignite the splattering oil
